In 1981, Redhook founders, Gordon Bowker and Paul Shipman, had a vision to bring Seattle a better beer than the light yellow fizzy stuff that was widely available at the time. Seizing upon the progressive energy of other pioneering Emerald City brands, the two established Seattle’s Redhook Ale Brewery. From modest beginnings in an old transmission shop in the Ballard neighborhood, to a former trolley car barn in Fremont, Redhook has always embodied the spirit of Seattle. After 38 years, Seattle’s Original Craft Brewery is still brewing fresh, innovative craft beers for the new generations of beer lovers. Gordon and Paul’s vision now lives in the form of Brewlab – our unique innovation brewery in Capitol Hill. Redhook Brewlab features 16+ taps of rotating small-batch beer, brewed on site by Redhook Head Brewer, Nick Crandall, a nine-year brewing veteran who has spent his time at Redhook focused on innovation and new recipe development. For beer, Brewlab is a world of endless possibility and constant innovation.
